A good friend<\/a> just told me that June 1st three fantastic DJs—Bag Raiders, Classixx, and the Remix Artists Collective—are going to be at the Mezzanine. All three of these DJs should be on your must-see list, as they’re consistently putting out memorable remixes of indie bands you already love (or should). But don’t take my word for it, have a listen for yourself.<\/p>\n

Bag Raiders<\/h2>\n

Chris Stracey and Jack Glass are Bag Raiders, a DJ duo from Australia. Their use of swelling synths on their own songs and their remixes pretty much defines what electro is all about.<\/p>\n

Classixx<\/h2>\n

Classixx is comprised of Michael David and Tyler Blake. Their style is similar to Bag Raiders, and they’re perfectly positioned in the indie scene, such that as soon as the next delicious indie track has been released they’ve already got the perfect remix ready to go.<\/p>\n

RAC (Remix Artist Collective)<\/h2>\n

The RAC is how I’m modelling my own DJ group: rather than a sold two-person pairing, it’s a collective of whomever they want to bring in. However, most of the RAC remixes are produced by founder Andr\u00e9 Allen Anjos or New York producer Andrew Maury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RAC remixes lean more disco than sick, that is, they don’t cut the originals up as much. They add a bigger beat and a few frills here and there, but consistently keep the original songs recognizable. This makes RAC a great intro to indie rockers who’ve shied away from dance music. All three of these DJs are a good fit for fans of San Francisco’s Fringe or Pop Scene, but RAC particularly so. While Classixx and Bag Raiders lean towards indie mixes, it seems to be RAC’s\u00a0raison d’\u00eatre.<\/p>\n

The Mezzanine is the best venue in San Francisco for live dance music. I only hope these DJs can live up to their studio productions in a live environment. If so, I’ll be dancing all night long.<\/p>\n
